Enable / Re-enable mount of ISO image in Windows 8

Yesterday I installed CD Burner XP. After that I couldn’t mount ISO images anymore.

The solution to this problem is in file association.

Right click on ISO file, select properties;

Choose button change on Opens with:

From the list, choose Windows Explorer

Close properties window, and then try the right click menu on ISO file

Activate Windows 8 Enterprise

I recently installed Windows 8 Enterprise in my company. During the installation, setup does not require input of serial number/key. So when Windows installs, you must go through procedure of changing the key, and activating Windows.

So here it goes.

On Desktop, go with your mouse to bottom left corner. When Start icon pops up, press right mouse button and select Command Prompt (Admin).

Now you must run VB script to change serial key: (X-es represent your key)
slmgr.vbs -ipk

Now all that is left to do is to activate your windows. Also through command prompt, and with the same
VBs script, but with diffrent switch.
slmgr.vbs -ato

After hitting the Enter, the pop up will tell you that Windows were activated successfully.

Setup Win7 or Win8 from USB drive

I have a little Acer Revo without a CD-ROM. External CD-ROM is expensive, so I reinstalled my little PC from USB stick.

First, you have to have a stick not smaller than installation CD/DVD of Windows 7 or 8. Next, motherboard must support Boot from USB so you can boot to setup.
The procedure goes like this, because we must prepare the USB with DISKPART. In my case CD/DVD-ROM is D: drive and USB flash drive is E: drive
SELECT DISK 1
CLEAN
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
SELECT PARTITION
ACTIVE
FORMAT FS=NTFS
ASSIGN
EXIT

Next, make USB bootable
Enter to your CD-ROM and subfolder boot
D:
CD BOOT
BOOTSECT.EXE /nt60 E:

And then copy all from CD/DVD to your USB. I used xcopy, but you can copy it from Windows explorer.
XCOPY * E:\ /E /Y

Plug in you USB into a computer, and boot from USB.
